Moldova praises Netherlands' backing for reforms, European Integration
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova Mihai Popșoi held a farewell meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Chișinău, Fred Duijn.
The officials discussed the development of Moldova–Netherlands relations, cooperation in the fields of security and defense, and the implementation of joint projects supporting the rule of law, local public administration, and institutional resilience, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Minister Popșoi noted that during Ambassador Duijn's term, the Republic of Moldova made significant progress on its path toward European integration.
"Your mandate has been truly remarkable. During this period, our country made decisive steps toward the European Union, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands stood by us at every important stage—from justice reform and strengthening democratic institutions to enhancing resilience and countering hybrid threats. Thank you for your openness and professionalism in helping bring the Republic of Moldova closer to the European Union," Popșoi said.
The Moldovan foreign minister also praised Ambassador Duijn's contribution to the opening of the first Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands based in Chișinău.
He further highlighted the expansion of cooperation in the economic and investment sectors, as well as Dutch support for Moldova's reform and modernization efforts.
For his part, Ambassador Fred Duijn praised the cooperation with the Moldovan authorities and the progress achieved in implementing reforms and advancing European integration. He expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to grow.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Popșoi wished the ambassador success in his future professional endeavors.
