Serbia announces defence scholarships with guaranteed employment
Serbia's Ministry of Defence has announced a competition for the award of 49 student scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The programme is intended for 37 undergraduate students and 12 master's students, who will receive financial support during their studies and be offered employment with the Ministry of Defence or the Serbian Armed Forces upon graduation.
Undergraduate scholarship recipients will receive a monthly stipend of 50,000 Serbian dinars, while master's students will receive 60,000 dinars per month, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Defence of Serbia's official website.
The scholarships are available to students enrolled at higher education institutions founded by the Republic of Serbia, an autonomous province, or a local self-government unit. Applicants must be enrolling for the first time in the current academic year in first- or second-cycle studies, be funded by the state budget, hold Serbian citizenship, and have permanent residence in Serbia.
Applicants must also have completed all exams from previous years of study without repeating a year and achieved the minimum grade point average specified for each scholarship.
Upon completing their studies, scholarship recipients will begin employment with the Ministry of Defence or the Serbian Armed Forces as military officers or civilian personnel, with postings in Belgrade.
The application deadline is 30 October 2026.
