Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama reacted to the European Parliament’s vote against the amendment proposed by several MEPs of the left-wing Parliamentary group against the construction of the resort in Zvërnec.

Rama stressed that the European Parliament highly regards Albania’s role and remains a steadfast advocate for its European integration, CE Report quotes ATA.

“The European Parliament has sorted things out properly on the digital storm of disinformation on the Vjosa-Nartë protected area, which has nothing to do with development,” Rama wrote.

Now, the head of government argues, “Either the whole of Europe, which through its Parliament highly regards Albania and encourages our early membership in the EU, has gone crazy and corrupt, or there is something wrong with those who started the protest of recent weeks with the protection of flamingos and are portraying it as a struggle for power in the name of the flamingos!”

“In any case, the flamingos will be protected, Vjosa-Narta will be protected, Zvernec will be developed based on an Environmental Impact Assessment according to European Union standards and we will continue to elevate Albania high”, wrote Rama.
