Greek, Italian officers join forces to boost security at Rome’s Termini

Italian police officers are conducting joint patrols with their Greek counterparts around Rome's central Termini railway station.

According to a statement issued by the Italian police, the joint patrols are taking place in one of the Eternal City's main areas, which sees particularly high tourist numbers, especially around the Assumption holiday on August 15.

The initiative is aimed not only at ensuring security but also at providing broader assistance to people who may find themselves in need during this period, the statement said, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The initiative is being carried out under a memorandum of cooperation signed last year by Greek Minister for Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis and Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.

Joint patrols by male and female officers of the Greek and Italian police forces are also taking place in Athens in areas with high tourist numbers.
