Dua Lipa turns down Fury-Joshua fight invitation
Kosovo-born pop star Dua Lipa is not only one of the leading singers of her generation, but also an international icon whom many would love to have associated with major events.
After performing at the 2018 UEFA Champions League final in Kyiv between Real Madrid and Liverpool, she was invited to add some star power to the highly anticipated boxing clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. However, the singer turned down the invitation, reportedly saying that she does not like boxing, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The two former world champions are set to meet on December 11 in what has been dubbed the “Battle of Britain,” but Dua Lipa will not be performing at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. This was confirmed by Turki Alalshikh, one of the leading figures in professional boxing, who spoke about the singer and the fight. He also said he had wanted the bout to take place at London’s Wembley Stadium, Ora News reported.
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, while tickets are expected to go on sale on October 9. Fury and Joshua will finally meet in the professional ring for the first time in their careers, following more than a decade of speculation about a potential showdown.
