Gaza documentary “Naza” extends run in Italian cinemas

Italy

Following its success in Italian cinemas, with more than 243,000 viewers — generating €1,806,945 in box-office revenue, according to Cinetel data — in just three days, “Naza,” the new documentary about Gaza by Oscar-winning filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, will continue to screen in 424 theaters, the film’s distributor announced.

The non-fiction film, which won the Special Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, reveals through secret nighttime conversations on the rooftops of Tel Aviv what the filmmakers describe as “the mechanisms behind Israel’s planned mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza,” as explained in the film’s promotional material, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The revelations have been strongly disputed by some members of the Israeli public. The two filmmakers have also received death threats, while their claims have been criticized by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other government officials.

Described as an “urgent work of extraordinary political relevance,” the film was made by the two Israeli filmmakers, who are among the four directors of “No Other Land,” which won the 2025 Academy Award for Best Documentary.

“Naza” is produced by The Guardian and James Wilson for JW Films. Its executive producers include Jonathan Glazer, the Oscar-winning director of “The Zone of Interest.” It was the only documentary in competition at this year’s Venice International Film Festival.

In Italy, “Naza” is distributed by I Wonder Pictures.
