Villa Lattes Director: "Femininology" eyes permanent international future – EXCLUSIVE
The international multimedia exhibition “Femininology”, bringing together women artists from Croatia and Italy, could develop into a permanent international platform for cultural cooperation, Elena Agosti, director and curator of the Villa Lattes Museum in Istrana, Italy, has told CE Report in an exclusive response.
The exhibition, currently in its 12th edition, is promoted by the Croatian Association of Visual Artists and Art Critics (HULULK) and aims to strengthen cultural ties between Croatia and Italy through contemporary women's artistic expression.
Agosti, who is responsible for selecting the Italian artworks and overseeing their presentation at Villa Lattes, said that the Italian edition would feature the same artists and artworks as the Croatian exhibition, with only minor adjustments required for exhibition purposes.
The Italian presentation is scheduled to open on Saturday, November 14, at 4:00 PM at the Villa Lattes Museum in Istrana, near Treviso.
“The Croatian edition, which is now drawing to a close, has already yielded excellent results in terms of fostering exchange and dialogue, as well as providing visibility for the artists,” Agosti told CE Report.
She also expressed her hope that the initiative would develop beyond its current format and become an established international cultural platform.
“I hope that the ‘Femininology’ project will evolve into a permanent international platform and that I will have the opportunity to collaborate with the HULULK Association again,” she said.
Agosti noted that this is her first involvement in Femininology, despite the project having reached its 12th edition. Her contribution includes selecting ten works by Italian artists and coordinating their installation at the Italian venue.
In her correspondence with CE Report, Agosti also introduced Sanda Stanaćev Bajzek, the project's creator and president of HULULK, as the principal representative responsible for promoting the exhibition.
The Croatian-Italian collaboration represents an opportunity to strengthen institutional connections between the two countries while providing women artists with opportunities to present their work to international audiences.
The organisers' longer-term ambition to establish Femininology as a permanent international platform could also create opportunities for further European cultural partnerships and exchanges.
With the Italian presentation approaching, the project is set to continue its cross-border dialogue, building on the results of its Croatian edition and seeking to establish a lasting framework for international artistic cooperation.
