John Travolta to attend 44th Torino Film Festival
One of the most famous and recognizable faces in American cinema, a two-time Oscar nominee, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner, and recipient of the honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, John Travolta will attend the 44th edition of the Torino Film Festival, taking place from November 24 to December 2.
The actor will present the Italian premiere of his first film as a director, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, and receive the Stella della Mole Award during the festival's opening ceremony, CE Report quotes ANSA.
With more than five decades of experience across film, television and theatre, his filmography includes some of the most iconic titles in recent Hollywood history, from Saturday Night Fever and Grease to Urban Cowboy, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Face/Off and Hairspray, as well as the acclaimed television series American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson.
Written, directed, narrated and produced by John Travolta, and based on his book of the same name, Propeller One-Way Night Coach tells the story of a young boy who discovers the magic of flying and develops a lifelong passion for aviation following an unforgettable experience aboard an airplane.
“John Travolta is a universal treasure of emotions,” said Giulio Base, artistic director of the Torino Film Festival.
“He is an actor who has made us dream and changed the history of cinema, even through dance. Thanks to his charisma, the characters he has portrayed have stepped beyond the big screen and transformed our culture – our gestures, our hairstyles and the way we walk.
“He has captured the anxieties and desires of entire generations, moving across eras and genres with the extraordinary talent of a true star. For decades, he has embodied both the talent of a great actor and the stature of a legend.
“Presenting him with the Stella della Mole Award means celebrating an artist who is part of all of us and paying tribute to one of the most magnetic and unforgettable presences the big screen has ever known.”
The Stella della Mole Award is presented to prominent figures in international cinema who have made significant contributions to the art of filmmaking.
