Saudi Arabia announced that two drones attempting to attack the Ras Tanura Refinery in the city of Dammam in the early morning hours were successfully intercepted and destroyed.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said in a press statement that debris from drones shot down during interception caused damage near civilian residential areas, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

The spokesperson stressed that no civilians were injured during the operation.

Maliki did not share information on which side or country had launched the drones. He stated that a small fire caused by falling debris broke out at the refinery and was brought under control.

Local sources had reported that a fire erupted following a drone attack in the morning at Ras Tanura Port at facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco. Thick smoke was seen rising from the area, and the facility was temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
