Netanyahu praises ‘heroes’ aboard Dubai flight

“I pay tribute to the heroes aboard the flight from Dubai, who demonstrated readiness, courage and resourcefulness. I have instructed the security apparatus to prepare for any further threats,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an official statement.

His comments followed a serious security incident aboard flydubai flight FZ1073, which was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, CE Report quotes ANSA.

According to Netanyahu, one of the pilots stabbed the other as the aircraft approached Israel and apparently attempted to crash the plane.

Netanyahu said an Israeli passenger and a crew member managed to enter the cockpit and overpower the alleged attacker while another crew member stabilized the aircraft. The plane subsequently made a safe emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, with the passengers reported to be out of danger.

The suspected attacker was arrested and was being questioned by Saudi authorities. The motive remained under investigation, while Israeli authorities said they were continuing to assess possible security threats.
