Moldova highlighted as active partner at Interreg Europe meeting

On December 10–11, 2025, the 10th meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Europe 2021–2027 Programme was held in Tirana, Albania, under Albania’s presidency. Representatives of the State Chancellery took part in the event.

The meeting agenda included a review of developments within the Interreg Europe Programme, the implementation status of approved projects, as well as financial and audit matters. Future development perspectives of the programme were also discussed, including orientations for the post-2027 period.

During the session dedicated to the Policy Learning Platform, the Republic of Moldova was highlighted as one of the most active candidate countries within the programme. It was also noted that in 2025, Moldova benefited from two capacity-building events organized with the support of the Interreg Europe Programme: one carried out in partnership with the municipality of Ungheni, focused on promoting sustainable mobility at the local level, and another organized in partnership with the Ministry of Energy, dedicated to energy efficiency and the energy transition in the buildings sector.

During the same session, the organization of a Peer Review event was announced, scheduled to take place in February 2026 in the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the Policy Learning Platform and in partnership with the Ministry of Energy.

As reported by CE Report, so far, within the Interreg Europe Programme, the Republic of Moldova has participated in three project calls, with a total budget of approximately €1.9 million. The country is involved in 17 projects, with the participation of 19 national beneficiaries. These projects target areas such as sustainable urban development, energy efficiency, urban mobility, sustainable tourism development, social inclusion, climate change adaptation, innovation, and the green transition.
