Zelensky urges lawmakers to back seven bills needed for Ukraine’s financing

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has urged lawmakers to support seven bills scheduled for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada this week.

The Head of State said this in his evening address posted on Telegram, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“I am grateful to all the lawmakers who voted in favor of decisions in the Verkhovna Rada today. Also, a number of bills are scheduled for consideration this week that, frankly speaking, mean funding from our partners for Ukraine. There are seven bills on the agenda, most of them for first reading, but each of them is needed to finance the state budget deficit,” Zelensky said.

The President stressed that these decisions are of national importance and concern all Ukrainians, rather than individual political forces or persons. According to him, some of the necessary decisions may be difficult, unpleasant, or unpopular, but without them, Ukraine currently cannot fully meet its defense and resilience needs.

“Ukraine is more than any party, any interest, or any PR strategy,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that Ukraine needs to cover its budget deficit and that positive votes by lawmakers could secure billions of dollars in funding.

“I ask everyone in our country to be equally effective for the sake of Ukraine,” the Head of State urged.

As previously reported, Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers approved and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada three more bills that are part of a package needed to secure international financing and cover the state budget deficit.

According to Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, “the draft laws concern the work of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission, Ukrzaliznytsia, and the High Qualification Commission of Judges.”

Koretskyi instructed ministers to urgently work on the bills with lawmakers at the committee level.
