European Commission Executive Vice President for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen, will make her first visit to Moldova on 15 July.

Her agenda includes meetings with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Doina Nistor, focusing on democratic resilience and digital transformation, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Virkkunen will also meet with representatives from Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission, Audiovisual Council, and the Center for Strategic Communication to discuss combating disinformation and hybrid threats.

The visit underscores the EU’s support for Moldova’s democratic development and digital security. Discussions will also touch on Moldova’s inclusion in the EU’s “Roam Like at Home” initiative.
