Greece is advancing its digital transformation by issuing civilian ID cards to military, police, and other service personnel to ease access to the gov.gr portal, Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou announced on Holy Thursday. He also revealed plans to abolish the country's 10 most-requested public sector certificates—starting with birth and family status certificates—to reduce bureaucracy, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Papastergiou highlighted the use of Artificial Intelligence in the justice system to speed up processes that previously took weeks, and the digitization of millions of legal documents. While full implementation may take weeks, he stressed this as a milestone in Greece’s digital journey, aiming to eliminate redundant paperwork through interoperability between government systems.
