Switzerland continues to support all diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and remains ready to facilitate dialogue between the parties, according to the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

“Switzerland supports any diplomatic initiative aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs remains in contact with all parties and continuously offers its good offices to help find a path to peace. The FDFA also remains available to facilitate dialogue and to organize meetings in Switzerland,” Jonas Montani, spokesperson of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland stated in an exclusive interview with CE Report.

The comments underline Switzerland’s longstanding commitment to diplomacy and its role as a neutral venue for international dialogue. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Switzerland has repeatedly expressed its readiness to contribute to peace efforts and provide platforms for negotiations and diplomatic engagement.

The issue was also highlighted during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent visit to Geneva, where he met with Swiss President Guy Parmelin and thanked Switzerland for its continued support of Ukraine, particularly its willingness to help advance peace initiatives.

According to Zelensky, discussions focused on Russia’s ongoing attacks against Ukraine, Kyiv’s need to strengthen its air-defense capabilities, and the situation on the front lines. The Ukrainian president also emphasized the importance of sanctions in increasing pressure on Moscow.

“Our mid-range and long-range strikes are rightly making Russia feel the consequences of the war it started. And we discussed what sanctions our partners could impose to force Russia to the negotiating table,” Zelensky said following the meeting.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation in the energy sector. Zelensky expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s assistance during the winter months and voiced hope for continued support in the future.

“Switzerland helped us get through this winter, and we are counting on continued support. Thank you, Switzerland!” the Ukrainian president said.

Switzerland has maintained active diplomatic engagement throughout the conflict, balancing its traditional neutrality with support for international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Ukraine. The FDFA’s latest remarks reaffirm Bern’s readiness to continue facilitating dialogue and providing a venue for discussions that could contribute to a sustainable resolution of the war.
