Michael Jackson biopic sequel taking shape

A sequel to Michael is beginning to take shape.

Citing Lionsgate, Variety reports that filming for the second installment of the Michael Jackson biopic is expected to begin between late 2026 and early 2027, while the film could be released between late 2027 and the first half of 2028, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, Michael became the first biopic in history to surpass $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It also overtook Bohemian Rhapsody as the highest-grossing music film and Oppenheimer as the highest-grossing biopic overall.

The film ends with the words “His Story Continues,” suggesting that a sequel could follow.
