Mitsotakis Highlights Tax System Improvements
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Independent Authority of Public Revenues on Wednesday to review the improved tax return rates and the positive effects of early submission and payment discounts, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
He emphasized that taxpayers who submit their returns by April 30 receive a 4% discount, with over one million citizens already taking advantage of this offer. "We encourage more people to hurry and benefit from this incentive," Mitsotakis said.
In the first 23 days of the campaign, over 1.15 million tax returns were submitted, marking a 150% increase from 2024 and a 388% rise from 2023. Additionally, 93.9% of tax refunds have already been processed.
The meeting also highlighted improvements in tax services, better visibility into state revenues, and ongoing initiatives to digitalize transactions and improve market inspections.
