Russia announces closure of Polish consulate

Poland

Russia will close the Polish consulate in St. Petersburg, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, after three members of the Polish diplomatic staff were declared persona non grata and must leave the country by January 10, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

This move is in response to the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of November.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski justified the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań by stating that there was information indicating that Russia was behind sabotage attempts in Poland and allied countries. Poland is one of Ukraine's most committed political and military supporters, which is why the Kremlin considers it an enemy. Sikorski stated that Russia's move is not surprising and that Poland is responding with dignified indifference.
