Moldova Boosts Higher Education

Moldova

Moldova is set to improve its higher education system by enhancing university infrastructure, student housing, and academic programs. Efforts will focus on attracting more international students, aligning teaching materials with global standards, and training educators in English and other foreign languages, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

These goals are part of the Higher Education Project, running until December 31, 2029. The government has approved two initiatives to ratify Amendment No. 3 to financing agreements with the International Development Association and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Research infrastructure in key sectors will also be developed. Grants will support early-career PhD students and researchers, including refugees, and help them present findings at international conferences.

This comes amid record-level investments in education, with 500 million lei allocated to universities and colleges and 1.3 billion lei for expanding the model school network, which is expected to grow by up to 90 institutions in the coming years.
