Moldova marks 36 years of state flag
The Speaker of Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu, together with members of Parliament and government officials, took part in a ceremony marking the State Flag Day. Republic of Moldova is celebrating 36 years since the adoption of the tricolor as a symbol of sovereignty, independence, and national identity, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
“Today we honor the Tricolor, the State Flag of our country—a symbol that unites us as a people and reminds us of our journey toward freedom, independence, and our place in the world. Honoring the State Flag means knowing our past and respecting our history. Each color reflects the character and traditions of our people,” said Grosu in his speech.
He added that State Flag Day is also an opportunity to thank all those who proudly carry the tricolor both at home and abroad.
“Under this flag, our ancestors fought for freedom. Under the same flag, we have the duty to build the future and take Moldova where it belongs: into a community of free and prosperous nations. This can only be achieved together, day by day, through honest work and care for one another. As long as the tricolor lives in our hearts, this nation cannot be defeated,” Grosu stated.
The tricolor was officially designated as the State Flag on April 27, 1990, by the deputies of the first Parliament. In 2010, April 27 was formally established as State Flag Day.
