King Charles III, the first British monarch to publicly disclose his tax returns, has paid more than £30 million (approximately €35 million) in personal taxes since ascending to the throne in September 2022.

The announcement was made by Buckingham Palace, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The Palace stated that "The amount of tax paid by His Majesty since his accession exceeds £30 million," adding that the unprecedented disclosure reflects a commitment to transparency, as the royal family’s finances continue to face increasing public scrutiny.

Prince William also revealed his personal tax information for the first time. He has paid more than £20 million in taxes since inheriting the title of Prince of Wales, following his father’s accession to the throne.

Buckingham Palace also confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will not return to live at Buckingham Palace after the ongoing renovation works are completed. Instead, they will continue residing nearby at Clarence House.

The long-term plan is to transform Buckingham Palace into the ceremonial center of royal life, while expanding public access to the historic residence.
