OSCE praises Moldova's EU integration progress

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi met today with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Christophe Kamp, who is on a working visit to Chișinău.

The discussions focused on the protection of national minority rights, multilingual education, and strengthening social cohesion among ethnic communities in the context of Moldova's European Union accession process, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Popșoi reaffirmed the authorities' commitment to promoting human rights and building a society based on mutual respect and inclusion, emphasizing that these principles are fundamental elements of the country's European path.

“European integration means strengthening a society in which every citizen feels respected and has equal opportunities to succeed. We will continue investing in education, promoting cultural and linguistic diversity, and bringing communities across the country closer together,” Popșoi said.

During the meeting, the officials highlighted the importance of multilingual education in facilitating the social and economic participation of all citizens. They also stressed the need to promote the Romanian language while preserving and developing the languages of national minorities.

The two sides also welcomed ongoing cooperation in implementing projects aimed at educational institutions and fostering dialogue between communities.

Christophe Kamp praised Moldova's progress in the European integration process and reaffirmed the readiness of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities' Office to continue supporting Moldovan authorities in areas within its mandate.
