Moldova Allocates 4.6 Billion Lei for Energy Bill Support with EU Aid

Moldova

Moldova’s government has allocated 4.6 billion lei to help citizens pay energy bills, nearly half of which comes from the European Union and member states, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced today, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

“We often hear speculations about European money. It’s important to emphasize that, thanks to EU support, we can provide substantial compensations to our citizens,” Recean stated.

The government offers two types of compensation: direct cash payments for heating to registered households and automatic electricity subsidies covering 110 KWh—about 80% of a Moldovan family’s average monthly consumption. All households, regardless of registration, will receive electricity compensation from March through the end of the year.

This marks the third consecutive year of energy aid under the Help at the Meter program.
