Beware of screens: if you are young, spending too much time on digital screens may increase the risk of hypertension, high cholesterol, and insulin resistance, compromising metabolic and cardiovascular health, writes salute.eu.

This is the warning of a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association by researchers at the COPSAC center (Copenhagen Prospective Studies on Asthma in Childhood) at the University of Copenhagen, CE Report quotes ATA.

The researchers analyzed data from two Danish studies: COPSAC2010, in which parents reported screen use by 700 children at ages 6 and 10, and COPSAC2000, which involved 411 18-year-olds who were asked to directly report their digital habits.

The study found that 6-year-olds spent an average of 2 hours per day in front of a screen, increasing to 3.2 hours by age 10.

Eighteen-year-olds, on the other hand, spent an average of over 6 hours per day.
