North Macedonia engages Spain on predictable EU accession path

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Timcho Mucunski met with a delegation from the Senate of Spain composed of senators from the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee, CE Report quotes MIA.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister Mucunski expressed his satisfaction over the visit as a recognition of the excellent relations between the two countries. He stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and continued political dialogue, highlighting the need for more frequent contacts between the members of the legislatures of the two countries, with expectations that this will further intensify in the coming period.

“Speaking about European integration, the Minister noted the process should be predictable and unburdened by bilateral issues. He recalled the concessions made in the past years and the long period our country has been going through, stressing that the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia consistently share the European values,” the Ministry said in a press release.

The Spanish senators noted that Spain remains a great friend and supporter of the Republic of North Macedonia, including in the EU accession process. They stressed the importance of integrating the country within the European family as a basis for further enhancement of cooperation.

“The meeting also highlighted the excellent dynamic of bilateral relations, as well as the potential for their further enhancement, with an emphasis on the economy, investments, culture, and tourism. The Minister and senators assessed that this meeting, as well as activities held as part of the visit, will contribute to a further strengthening of the close and friendly relations between the two countries,” the Ministry said.
