Shakira returns to Spain after seven years
Colombian star Shakira will hold several concerts in Madrid this September, marking the end of her world tour and her return to Spain, where she has not performed since 2018, event organizer Live Nation announced, according to AFP.
So far, six dates have been confirmed — September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27 — but Madrid’s mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, suggested in recent days that the 49-year-old artist could perform up to 10 concerts in total, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
Shakira has not performed in Spain since 2018, a few years before publicly announcing in 2022 her separation from former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.
“In a world full of uncertainties,” her show “will celebrate life” and “Latin culture,” said promoter Pino Sagliocco, president of Live Nation Spain, during a press conference, without disclosing the project’s cost.
For the occasion, Live Nation — which is also organizing 12 concerts in Spain in May and June for another Latin superstar, Bad Bunny — will build a temporary “Shakira stadium” in southern Madrid, with a capacity of around 50,000 seats.
“We will do things in a big way,” Shakira said enthusiastically in an interview published Sunday by the Spanish newspaper El País, adding that she has “an unbreakable bond with Spain.”
The Colombian star launched her world tour “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” in February 2025, following the album of the same name, which won a Grammy Awards.
Earlier this month, she gathered around 400,000 fans at a free concert in Mexico. She is also set to perform on May 2 at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
A global superstar, Shakira — winner of four Grammy Awards — has sold over 95 million records worldwide throughout her career.
In November 2023, the Colombian singer reached an agreement with Spanish authorities to avoid a trial for tax fraud. As part of the deal, in which she admitted guilt, she was ordered to pay a fine of over €7.3 million.
