Energocom secures electricity supply for Moldova

Energocom has secured the electricity volumes needed to cover Moldova's consumption for Friday, August 7. At the same time, the company stressed that the regional energy situation remains difficult and urged citizens to conserve electricity.

In total, Energocom purchased 13,561 MWh of electricity for the day. Of that amount, 25.93% comes from local renewable energy sources, 69.21% from bilateral import contracts, 3.90% from Romania's Day-Ahead Market through OPCOM and BRM, and 0.96% from combined heat and power (CHP) plants, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Energocom also emphasized that the regional electricity supply situation remains challenging, with limited availability on external markets and significantly higher prices.

"Although the volumes required to meet today's electricity demand have been identified and secured, the regional situation remains difficult, and electricity availability on external markets is limited. Under these conditions, electricity is much more expensive. Higher procurement costs, especially during peak hours, will inevitably lead to higher tariffs for consumers," the company said.

In light of the situation, the authorities are urging citizens to conserve electricity and use it efficiently, particularly between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Reducing electricity consumption during peak hours helps ease pressure on the national power system and reduces the need for additional, more expensive electricity purchases.
