Rihanna back in recording studio as A$AP Rocky teases new music
A$AP Rocky has accidentally revealed that his longtime partner, Rihanna, is working on new music—possibly for her long-awaited ninth studio album.
Speaking on the latest episode of BET’s The Jason Lee Show, the Harlem rapper confirmed that the nine-time Grammy Award winner is currently back in the recording studio, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe. She’s working. She’s cooking. No joke,” Rocky said, referring to Rihanna. “Damn, I’m going to get in trouble for saying that.”
When host Jason Lee suggested the couple should release a joint double album, Rocky dismissed the idea.
“That’s nonsense. Nobody wants to hear us together,” he said. “I make this weird, alternative, subversive rap. I have a loyal fan base… The music I make is for a specific audience, for people who really understand it.”
After Lee continued to insist that a collaborative album would make sense, Rocky jokingly gave in.
“Look, I promise we’ll make an album just for you. It just won’t ever be released. Just don’t put it out,” the rapper replied.
It has been 10 years since Rihanna released her eighth studio album, Anti, and during that time she has repeatedly hinted that she has been working on its long-awaited follow-up.
On Wednesday, Rihanna shared a video of herself at the Crop Over Festival in Barbados, where she also hinted that she had been in the studio. Another video, posted in February, showed the singer recording music into the early hours of the morning.
