Elton John classic reaches streaming milestone

"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John has surpassed 1 billion streams.

"I can't even imagine how many road trips, parties, and karaoke nights this song has been part of.

Thank you all for spreading the joy and fun of this track," the British artist wrote on his social media pages, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Released in June 1976, the song is a duet between Elton John and Kiki Dee. It was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, using the pseudonyms Ann Orson and Carte Blanche. The track was never included on a studio album, appearing only on various greatest hits collections released later.

"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" became Elton John's first No. 1 single in the UK, where it stayed at the top for six weeks. It also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks and was a major international hit, including reaching No. 3 in Italy.
