Lithuania pledges continued energy support for Ukraine - EXCLUSIVE
Lithuania considers the delivery of energy equipment, including four power transformers for the Kharkiv region, an important contribution to the urgent restoration of Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure.

According to the source, emergency equipment assistance is part of a broader long-term strategy that combines rapid response, coordinated equipment mobilization, reconstruction efforts and the strengthening of Ukraine's overall energy resilience.
The ministry stressed that Lithuania will continue supporting Ukraine in line with the needs and priorities identified by the Ukrainian authorities, while also advocating for a more structured international mechanism for rapid energy assistance.
According to the source, such a mechanism should include maintaining reserves of critical energy equipment, identifying available resources in advance, simplifying administrative and logistical procedures, and improving coordination among governments, energy companies, European institutions and international donors. Lithuania is already working closely with Ukrainian institutions, the European Union, international partners and energy-sector operators to accelerate the identification, preparation, transportation and delivery of urgently needed equipment.
The ministry also expressed support for Ukraine's objective of building an energy equipment reserve that substantially exceeds the level of damage recorded during the previous heating season. Given the continued attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, such a reserve would significantly improve the country's ability to restore electricity and heating services quickly, particularly during the winter months.
The source emphasized that Lithuania is prepared to contribute to these efforts within its available capacities and in close coordination with Ukraine and international partners.
Beyond emergency equipment deliveries, Lithuania is seeking to expand long-term cooperation through technical expertise, institutional partnerships and joint energy resilience projects. Potential areas of cooperation include decentralized electricity generation, renewable energy combined with battery storage, protection of critical energy infrastructure, rapid grid restoration, emergency preparedness, energy efficiency and modernization of electricity networks.
The ministry also highlighted Lithuania's experience in electricity system management, integration into the European energy market, renewable energy development, strengthening energy independence and synchronization with the Continental European electricity system. Direct cooperation between Lithuanian and Ukrainian energy institutions and companies was described as essential for transferring practical expertise and developing solutions suited to both wartime and post-war conditions.
According to the source, Lithuania's approach is based on two complementary priorities: responding immediately to Ukraine's urgent energy needs while supporting the development of a more decentralized, secure and resilient energy system over the long term.
The ministry reaffirmed that Lithuania will continue standing with Ukraine and supporting the restoration, protection and modernization of its energy infrastructure for as long as necessary.
