TAP schedules natural gas deliveries to Greece and Italy
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) consortium has released updated natural gas flow nominations for its main European interconnection points, CE Report informs.
According to the latest data, the Kipoi interconnection in Greece, where TAP connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), is scheduled to receive 333,102,417 kilowatt-hours (kWh) on January 13 and 29,000,000 kWh on January 14.
At the Komotini interconnection, exit nominations for January 13 are 28,670,675 kWh, while the Nea Mesimvria point is expected to handle 30,346,301 kWh on the same day.
In Italy, TAP’s final delivery point at Melendugno has exit nominations of 270,585,441 kWh for January 13 and 29,000,000 kWh for January 14.
A key element of the Southern Gas Corridor, TAP transports natural gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea directly to European markets. The pipeline plays a crucial role in strengthening Europe’s energy security, diversifying supply routes, and reducing dependence on a limited number of sources.
With an annual transport capacity of around 10 billion cubic meters (bcm), TAP is designed for scalability, with technical potential to double capacity to 20 bcm. Such an expansion would support both regional energy resilience and the European Union’s broader energy transition and decarbonization goals.
