Ukraine updates IMF on energy strategy, reforms, winter preparations

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Gavin Gray.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine said, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“The parties discussed the situation in the energy sector and the needs to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience. The meeting focused in particular on energy-sector reforms that must continue even under martial law,” the ministry said.

Shmyhal briefed the IMF mission on efforts to update the Energy Strategy, preparations for the winter, bringing energy legislation into line with European standards, and corporate governance reform.

He thanked the partners for their longstanding support for Ukraine’s financial stability and their readiness to continue cooperating to develop a financially sustainable and resilient energy sector in Ukraine.

As reported, the IMF mission began its work in Kyiv on August 31.
