BAFTA Film Awards 2026: all winners

Culture

This year’s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony was dominated by Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another, while British actor Robert Aramayo made history by winning both Best Actor and Rising Star – the first time a single actor has claimed both trophies in the same year.

Aramayo portrayed activist John Davidson in the drama I Swear, a role that earned widespread acclaim and long applause in the hall, CE Report quotes ATA.

“I can’t believe it. It’s an extraordinary honor,” he said in his emotional speech.

Jessie Buckley and Hamnet

Irish actress Jessie Buckley was the favorite for Best Actress – and fully lived up to expectations. She won for her role as Agnes, Shakespeare’s wife, in the moving drama Hamnet, a film that explores the couple’s loss of their son.

On stage, Buckley said:

“This is madness. This award belongs to the women who taught me – and continue to teach me – how to do things differently.”

She became the first Irish actress to win this category at the BAFTAs.

The film Hamnet also won Outstanding British Film, one of the main categories honoring domestic cinema.
