The music world is in mourning for renowned Italian singer Tony Dallara, who died today at the age of 89 after being hospitalized in Milan.

His hits include “Come Prima” and “Romantica,” with which he won the Sanremo Music Festival in 1960, in collaboration with Renato Rascel, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

His real name was Antonio Lardera. He was born in Campobasso on June 30, 1936, and later grew up in Milan.

Dallara worked as a bartender and a clerk and began his musical career with the group “Rocky Mountains.”

His singing style was particularly inspired by American singers such as Frankie Laine and Tony Williams.

His first song, “Come Prima,” although rejected for entry at the Sanremo Festival, was released in December 1957 and sold 300,000 copies, becoming the best-selling song in Italy up to that time.

In 1960, Dallara won both the Sanremo Festival and the “Canzonissima” competition with the song “Romantica,” according to ATSh.

The following year, he won “Canzonissima” again with the song “Bambina bambina.”
