The Republic of Moldova attracted the attention of the Italian press following its participation in Borsa Internazionale del Turismo (BIT) Milano 2026, one of the most important international tourism exhibitions. Several Italian publications highlighted Moldova’s authentic tourism offer, quality wines, and traditional hospitality, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

According to articles published in the Italian media, Moldova offers “an authentic travel experience,” where visitors discover ancient cultural heritage, untouched nature, traditional rural villages, and highly appreciated cuisine. Journalists noted that the country’s long history — from the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture civilization to the present — has shaped a diverse society with a distinct cultural identity.

Publications mentioned attractions such as the underground tunnels of the “Wine City” in Cricova Winery, the tourism experiences offered by Castel Mimi, the historical and cultural complex Orheiul Vechi, and the routes in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Lower Prut Biosphere Reserve, including Lake Beleu. The capital Chișinău, the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Moldova, and the National Museum of History of Moldova were also highlighted.

Special emphasis was placed on Moldova’s winemaking tradition. The Italian press recalled that Moldova is one of the world’s oldest wine producers, with over 7,000 years of tradition, and hosts the world’s largest wine collection at Mileștii Mici Winery. The “Iter Vitis” wine routes of the Council of Europe, combining cultural heritage with wine tastings, were also promoted.

During BIT Milano 2026, held at Fiera Milano Rho, Moldova was represented with an institutional stand, where visitors could taste wines and traditional products and engage with tourism sector representatives. The participation helped strengthen the country’s image on the Italian market and promote Moldova as an emerging destination in Europe.
