Ukraine receives final UK funding tranche
Ukraine has received the final tranche of GBP 752 million (around $1 billion) from the United Kingdom under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
That is according to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.
"I am grateful to the UK government for its consistent and resolute support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, now in the fifth year of the full-scale war. The funding provided will be directed toward priority needs in the security and defense sector," Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko said.
The report notes that this GBP 752 million payment is the final tranche from the United Kingdom under the G7 ERA initiative.
The first two tranches, totaling GBP 1.5 billion, were delivered in March and April 2025.
The funds are part of the G7's $50 billion ERA mechanism. The loan will be serviced and repaid using future proceeds generated from immobilized Russian sovereign assets. The financing is provided for a term of 30 years.
On March 1, 2025, Marchenko and UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with GBP 2.26 billion (approximately $3 billion) for defense needs.
