Moldova eligible for UNESCO's Fund for Cultural Diversity
Public institutions and non-governmental organizations in Moldova can apply for the 17th call for project funding through the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), managed by UNESCO.
The fund supports initiatives that can create lasting changes in the cultural sector, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Applications can be submitted on the IFCD platform until May 6, 2026, at 12:00 (Paris time). Through this new call, UNESCO reaffirms its support for initiatives in Moldova and worldwide that transform its normative instruments into concrete actions at the local level.
According to Moldova’s Ministry of Culture, projects are encouraged that support the development and implementation of cultural policies, strengthen the capacities of public institutions and civil society organizations, support cultural and creative industries at local and regional levels, and facilitate access to markets for cultural goods and services.
During the national preselection stage, carried out by the National Commission for UNESCO between May 26 and June 30, 2026, a maximum of four projects from each country—including Moldova—will be selected: two proposed by public institutions and two by non-governmental organizations.
Since 2010, the IFCD has invested $13.6 million in 175 projects across 77 developing countries. These initiatives have contributed to the development and implementation of cultural policies, strengthening cultural entrepreneurship, facilitating access to new markets for cultural goods and services, and increasing public participation and inclusion in cultural life—including in Moldova.
