Bulgaria will be represented at the EU Film Days 2025: A Celebration of European Animation in Japan, with screenings in Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Kyoto, the Bulgarian Embassy in Japan announced, CE Report quotes BTA

This year's festival highlights animated works, and Bulgaria will showcase two short films: The Artist's Daughter by Dimitar Dimitrov and Family Portrait on the Black Earth by Ivan Popov – Zaeka. The screenings in Tokyo are scheduled for June 30, July 2, 3, and 6.

The Artist's Daughter is Bulgaria’s first animated film created using AI-generated imagery. Family Portrait on the Black Earth, based on a short story by Yordanka Beleva, was also featured at EXPO 2025 in Osaka.

The festival includes 44 films from 27 EU countries, offering Japanese audiences a rich look at contemporary European animation.
