The latest report on EU agri-food trade, published by the European Commission, shows that European Union agri-food exports reached a new record in 2025, despite global economic challenges.

EU agri-food exports totaled €238.4 billion in 2025, representing an increase of 1% (€2.3 billion) compared with 2024. United Kingdom remained the main destination for EU agri-food exports, accounting for 23% of the total (€55.6 billion), CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Among other key developments, exports increased significantly to Switzerland (up 7%, or €1.2 billion) and Turkey (up 16%, or €1.1 billion). Cereal preparations, dairy products, and wine continued to lead EU exports, while cocoa, coffee, and chocolate recorded the largest value increases, largely due to rising prices.

Meanwhile, EU agri-food imports rose 9% (€15.3 billion) compared with 2024, reaching €188.6 billion. The United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States remained the main suppliers, with cocoa, coffee, fruits, and nuts driving the increase in imports due to higher global prices.

The EU recorded an overall agri-food trade surplus of €49.9 billion in 2025, although this figure was €13.3 billion lower than in 2024, mainly due to rising import prices for key commodities such as coffee, cocoa, fruits, and nuts.

The European Union remained the world’s leading exporter of agri-food products and was also the largest global importer in 2025.

Agri-food trade accounted for 9% of total EU exports (€2.6 trillion), 7.5% of total EU imports (€2.5 trillion), and 37% of the EU’s total trade surplus in 2025.
