Sister Marizele surprises viewers with beatboxing skills

A Brazilian nun has gone viral on social media with her beatbox performance during an interview with the Catholic broadcaster TV Pai Eterno, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Beatboxing is a form of musical expression typical of Hip-Hop, which involves reproducing percussion and other sounds using the mouth and vocal cords.

What began as a simple promotion for a female vocations retreat in the city of Goiana turned into a surprising musical show that quickly went viral across Brazil.

In the video, Sister Marizele is accompanied by Sister Marisa Paula de Neves, who skillfully matched her dance steps to the rhythm of the beatboxing.

Marizele, 44, belongs to the Congregation of Copious Redemption. From a young age, her family was surrounded by music. Despite beatboxing being typically associated with hip-hop, the nun said her relatives were passionate fans of sertaneja music — the Brazilian countryside version of country music.

“Music was a normal part of my family,” she said. “My grandfather was a guitarist and used to build guitars, my aunts sang on the radio, and my three sisters and I did chores while singing. As a child, I loved karaoke.”
