The Odeon of Philippopolis, a prominent landmark within the ancient forum complex in Plovdiv, has been officially reopened as a new tourist attraction, according to the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism, CE Report quotes BTA

"Plovdiv is a city of stories. Restoring the Odeon of Philippopolis creates new opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in its history," said caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev.

Plans are underway to introduce interactive maps and mobile apps to enhance the visitor experience and attract more tourists to Plovdiv, known as Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited city.

During a meeting with Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov and other local officials, Minister Miloshev discussed hosting international events at the Odeon, which can now accommodate 350 people for concerts, theater performances, and conferences.

"The restoration of this ancient public center underscores our dedication to preserving cultural heritage," Mayor Dimitrov stated.

Artifacts from the site, including marble tiles, Roman treasures, and a gold amulet, are on display at the Regional Archaeological Museum, adding further appeal to the historic destination.
