MONSTAT reports mixed producer price trends in Montenegro - EXCLUSIVE
The Producer Price Index of Industrial Products measures changes in the selling prices of industrial products received by producers on the domestic market. The data are collected from selected reporting units operating in the industrial sector, including the Mining and Quarrying sector.
This was said by the source in the Statistical Office of Montenegro (MONSTAT) in an exclusive interview with CE Report.
In the second quarter of 2026, compared with the second quarter of 2025, producer prices of industrial products in the Mining and Quarrying sector decreased by 1.4%, while producer prices of industrial products in Montenegro increased by 0.4%.
Compared with the first quarter of 2026, producer prices of industrial products in the Mining and Quarrying sector decreased by 2.2%, while producer prices of industrial products in Montenegro decreased by 0.3%.
In accordance with its mandate, MONSTAT collects, processes and publishes statistical data on producer prices of industrial products based on the data reported by reporting units. Information on the reasons for price changes, as well as on the business decisions that influenced them, is not covered by this statistical survey.
Accordingly, MONSTAT is not mandated to determine or interpret the causes of the recorded price changes.
MONSTAT does not assess or evaluate the economic effects of statistical indicators. Its role is to provide reliable, objective and internationally comparable statistical data in accordance with the Law on Official Statistics and the Official Statistics System.
The Producer Price Index of Industrial Products is one of the key short-term economic indicators used to monitor changes in producer prices in industry.
Assessing the extent to which changes in producer prices affect inflation, the competitiveness of the economy or overall macroeconomic developments is not within MONSTAT's mandate. Such analyses are carried out by institutions responsible for economic and monetary policies, which use producer price data together with other economic indicators for this purpose.
MONSTAT does not produce forecasts of future statistical developments or provide expectations regarding future trends.
MONSTAT's role is to regularly collect, process and publish statistical data in accordance with the Programme of Official Statistics and international methodological standards, providing users with timely, high-quality and internationally comparable information.
In accordance with its mandate, MONSTAT regularly conducts the survey and publishes data on changes in producer prices of industrial products, but does not prepare estimates or forecasts of their future developments.
