BMW to launch major workforce reduction program
German automaker BMW is launching a major workforce reduction program.
According to information obtained by the German Press Agency (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) from internal company sources, approximately 8,000 jobs are expected to be cut worldwide, CE Report quotes ANSA.
BMW has not issued any official statement regarding the reported plans.
Since mid-June, there has been growing speculation that BMW was preparing to introduce a job-cutting program. At the time, reports indicated that the company intended to "intensify and accelerate its current cost-reduction measures through additional structural and efficiency initiatives."
