Poland strengthens aerospace industry with new Council, Pratt & Whitney investment
Deputy Minister of Development and Technology of Poland Michał Jaros took part in a meeting in Rzeszów with members of the Aerospace Industry Council, including representatives of companies from the sector.
The discussions focused on the development of one of Poland's most important industries, new investments, and support for innovative projects in the aerospace and space sectors, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Economic Development and Tecnology of the Republic of Poland's official website.
Aerospace Industry Council to Boost the Sector
The aerospace industry is one of the most innovative sectors of the economy and plays a key role in Poland's security and technological development. For this reason, the Prime Minister established the Aerospace Industry Council.
"I would like the Council's priority to be the issues defined in the Sectoral Contract. After several years since the work began, it is worth reviewing the priorities and focusing efforts on the key elements that can become catalysts for positive changes in the industry. Given the current geopolitical situation, we should also consider adding a section outlining priorities for the dual-use industry," Deputy Minister Jaros said.
The Council will serve as a platform for cooperation between the public administration, businesses, academia, and industry experts. Its role will be to develop solutions that facilitate the sector's growth, enhance its competitiveness, and help it respond more effectively to national and European challenges. Industry representatives will play a central role in the Council's work, bringing practical knowledge of the sector's needs.
Pratt & Whitney Expands Investment in Poland
The second part of the visit included a meeting with representatives of Pratt & Whitney, one of the largest investors in Poland's aerospace industry. The company, part of the RTX group, employs nearly 4,000 people in Poland and operates facilities in Rzeszów, Kalisz, and Niepołomice.
Pratt & Whitney is undertaking a new investment in Rzeszów worth nearly PLN 345 million. The project includes the construction of a facility for the heat treatment and machining of forged turbine engine discs (postforming), together with the necessary supporting infrastructure.
"Another Pratt & Whitney investment is proof that Poland is one of the best places in the world to do business and a home for investors from around the globe. Supported under the government grant program, the project will establish in Poland an innovative technology, unique in Europe, essential for manufacturing aircraft engines for both the civil and military sectors," Jaros said.
The project has received support under the 2011–2030 Program for Supporting Investments of Significant Importance to the Polish Economy, with a government grant exceeding PLN 46.5 million.
Poland Focuses on High-Tech Investments
The Ministry of Development and Technology is preparing a new grant program to replace the current investment support scheme. The new program will focus on supporting the most innovative projects with high value for the Polish economy.
Priority sectors will include aerospace and space technologies, helping Poland attract additional advanced technology projects and strengthen its position within the European aerospace industry.
The new Pratt & Whitney investment aligns with this strategy and is expected to increase Poland's manufacturing capacity, foster the development of advanced technologies, and further reinforce the Podkarpackie region as one of Europe's leading aerospace industry hubs.
