Italy’s industry sees growth, but key sectors struggle

Italy's seasonally-adjusted industrial production index increased by 3.2% in January compared to December, Istat said.

Meanwhile the overall index net of calendar effects fell by 0.6% on an annual basis (working days were 21 compared to 22 in January 2024), the national statistics bureau explained, CE Report quotes ANSA.

On an annual basis, the most significant drop in the production level was recorded in the fabrication of transport vehicles (-13.1%), in textile, clothing, leather and accessories (-12.3%) and in the fabrication of coke and refined petroleum products (-6.2%), the agency said.
