Zelensky updates priority targets after Russian strike
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had discussed with the heads of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine the consequences of the Russian airstrike, the situation on the front lines and regarding the maritime corridor, and had updated the list of top priorities for precision strikes.
The head of state announced this on Facebook, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.
“A briefing by Mykhailo Drapaty, Ihor Skybyuk, Yevhen Khmara, and Pavlo Palisa. We discussed in detail the current challenges posed by Russia’s ballistic missile strike tactics and our ability to counter these tactics at both the military and diplomatic levels. We identified solutions and technical measures, as well as asymmetric measures that can provide Ukraine with greater protection,” Zelensky said.
He noted that there was also a briefing on the situation at the front, particularly in the areas of Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka. There was also a briefing on the situation with the maritime export corridor—what has already been done in this regard and what action plan will still be implemented.
The President also emphasized that the operation involving medium-range strikes against Russian forces and positions in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, particularly in Crimea, is ongoing.
“We have updated the list of top priorities for precision strikes,” the head of state reported.
In addition, he instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strengthen communication and coordination with military leadership in countries across our region. Teams from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Office of the President, he said, will work with our partners in Europe who can assist with the supply of missiles for air defense.
Zelensky also reported that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is preparing a series of systemic changes that will, among other things, allow for a clearer assessment of the situation on the front lines, a more rapid response to changes in the situation, and greater opportunities for brigades to effectively counter Russian offensive operations. “I thank all the units that are truly holding Ukraine’s positions and preventing the occupying army from achieving the objectives set for it by Russia’s political leadership,” the President concluded.
As reported, on the night of July 30, the Russian Federation’s army launched a massive combined strike against Ukraine using attack drones and various types of air-, land-, and sea-based missiles.
