The press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.
“Yesterday and overnight on March 23, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck key fuel and energy infrastructure facilities of the Russian Federation. Specifically, the Transneft – Port Primorsk oil terminal (Primorsk, Leningrad region, Russian Federation) was struck. According to preliminary reports, both the tank farm and the oil-loading infrastructure were hit. A fire on the facility’s grounds has been confirmed,” the statement reads.
It is noted that approximately 60 million tons of oil pass through the Primorsk Port annually. The aggressor country uses the proceeds from its sale to continue the war against Ukraine and support the Russian occupation army.
The Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery (Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation) has also been struck, with a fire confirmed on the facility’s grounds.
According to the press service, the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery is a key link in the Russian army's fuel supply chain. Its crude oil processing capacity is approximately 6–8 million tons per year. The refinery is located a considerable distance from Ukraine’s state border, which is about 1,400 km away.
These facilities are used for oil refining, storage, and transportation of fuel and lubricants for the occupying army. According to the General Staff, the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
As reported, on February 15, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Tamanneftegaz terminal near the village of Volna in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
On March 16, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the city of Labinsk, Krasnodar region, Russian Federation, as a result of a UAV attack.
