OpenAI plans major hiring push
OpenAI could double its workforce by the end of 2026.
According to the Financial Times, the artificial intelligence giant aims to reach 8,000 employees in the coming months, doubling its current staff of about 4,500 workers.
To achieve this, the company has reportedly expanded its offices in San Francisco, CE Report quotes ANSA.
According to the newspaper, the new hires will mainly focus on development, engineering, research, and sales.
“OpenAI will also step up recruitment of specialists for technical ambassador roles, helping companies make the most of its AI tools,” the FT writes.
A key focus of the initiative would be increasing enterprise clients, especially given the growing competitive pressure from Anthropic and its chatbot Claude AI. According to recent data from Ramp, a financial management startup, enterprise customers purchasing AI solutions for the first time choose Anthropic three times more often than OpenAI—marking a reversal compared to a year ago.
An OpenAI spokesperson disputed the Financial Times data, stating that “the idea that enterprise market share can be derived from Ramp’s credit card data is absurd.”
In February, OpenAI drew attention after announcing a contract with the Department of Defense for the use of its artificial intelligence models, following a controversy between Anthropic and the federal agency.
