The Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board is implementing one of its most significant international promotional campaigns in cooperation with the prestigious British magazine Wanderlust, whose new April/May issue is currently being distributed across key global markets.

Sarajevo is featured in that issue across as many as 16 pages of printed content, along with an online article, a specialized Sarajevo guide, and additional promotion across digital channels and social media, CE Report quotes FENA.

This is a campaign that goes beyond traditional promotional formats, positioning the destination through strong, multi-layered, and long-term international visibility.

Each issue of Wanderlust reaches more than 300,000 readers, along with over one million online users per month, with its audience primarily coming from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia.

While these markets, along with Europe, are the main focus of the campaign, it is important to note that the magazine is distributed in as many as 120 countries, giving Sarajevo highly valuable exposure in one of the world’s most influential travel media outlets.

Through this campaign, Sarajevo is presented as a destination where history, culture, and modern life intersect. Special emphasis is placed on cultural and historical heritage, museums, the art scene, festivals, gastronomy, and the city’s authentic energy, as well as nature and mountains within close reach of the urban center—making Sarajevo a unique destination that combines city break and outdoor experiences.

The campaign’s particular value lies in first-hand stories, told through the perspectives of local guides, artists, and creatives, who present Sarajevo through personal experiences, recommendations, and authentic impressions. At the same time, the campaign promotes a diverse range of local accommodation and related tourism services, further highlighting the overall visitor experience and the potential for increased tourist spending.

An important context for this campaign is the continuous improvement of Sarajevo’s air connectivity, resulting from significant investments by the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board. Today, Sarajevo is directly connected to the United Kingdom market, while tourist traffic from English-speaking regions is also on the rise. The combination of improved accessibility and targeted promotion in relevant markets further amplifies the campaign’s impact.

“This campaign represents one of the most important steps forward in the international promotion of Sarajevo. We have been carefully preparing it for months with the clear goal of positioning Sarajevo in a way that reflects its authenticity, diversity, and modern tourism potential. Being featured in Wanderlust, one of the world’s most influential travel media outlets, confirms that we are moving in the right direction and that Sarajevo is increasingly securing its place on the global tourism map,” said Haris Fazlagić, President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board.

Wanderlust has a strong influence in the inspiration and travel decision-making phase, with as many as 97 percent of its readers actively seeking ideas for new destinations. This positions Sarajevo in front of an audience that not only follows travel trends but is actively planning future trips.

Campaigns like this contribute to strengthening Sarajevo’s global visibility and reinforcing its image as a destination that combines authenticity, culture, nature, and a modern tourism experience, focusing on travelers from key outbound markets who stay longer and spend more—thereby supporting the long-term sustainable development of tourism in Sarajevo Canton, the Tourism Board said in a statement.
