Robot suspected of sexually harassing girl in Germany

A 16-year-old girl was sexually harassed by a robot in Cologne, Germany.

According to Cologne police, the robot allegedly touched the girl on her buttocks.

Police are now investigating the incident on suspicion of sexual harassment, DPA reports, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The girl was standing outside a fast-food restaurant with two friends on the night between Saturday and Sunday when a red-and-gold robot allegedly approached her from behind.

The device’s owner, a 16-year-old from Wegberg, and his 19-year-old companion reportedly filmed the incident, livestreamed it on social media and commented on what was happening. Shortly afterwards, police officers stopped the suspects near the scene.

Officers found the 1.2-metre-tall robot in the trunk of a car, where the 16-year-old had allegedly hidden it.

In addition to the robot, police seized the suspects’ mobile phones and are investigating whether the robot’s movements were deliberately controlled.
